Michael Devine at the Raabta Festival

Acadia Theatre professor Michael Devine has been invited as a Guest Artist to the Raabta Festival in El Gouna, Egypt, Dec. 4-6, 2025. The Raabta Festival annually welcomes hundreds of participants interested in exploring wellness industries such as yoga, personal expression and various forms of therapy. A range of Guest Artists from around the world lead workshops on their specialities. Dr. Devine will lead three days of workshops in BoxWhatBox, his performance creation and actor training methodology, which he has taken so far to 23 countries.

Remembering Merra Hynes

It with heavy hearts that the Department announces the passing of Merra Hynes. Merra, who was entering her third year as a Theatre Major, died suddenly on 29 May. A successful student, Merra’s vitality and sharp humour made her a beloved core member of the Acadia Theatre Company. Our deepest condolences to Merra’s family and friends. Michael Devine in Oman

In April Dr Michael Devine brought his BoxWhatBox performance training method to Muscat, Oman, for an eight-day intensive workshop with actors from the Ajyali Cinema Society. His work was funded by Oman’s Ministry for Culture, Youth and Sport and a post-workshop certificate ceremony was held at Muscat’s Grand Exhibition Hall as part of Oman’s annual International Book Fair. Michael’s work with BoxWhatBox as a director, playwright and teacher has now taken him to 25 countries on 5 continents.
