Biography:  Susan Barratt trained as a dancer in Montreal, receiving a BA in English and BFA in dance, and went on to become a CMA (certified movement analyst) with the Laban-Bartenieff Centre for Movement Studies in New York.   Since moving Nova Scotia in 1999 she has performed for Kinetic Studio, Short & Sweet and the Mayworks Festival as well as the Multicultural and Jazz Festivals.  In 2013 she completed certification in Antigym©, a method which helps to restore balance and flexibility in the body.  Susan has taught Theatre Movement at Acadia since 2005, and has also taught for Dalhousie Theatre Dept, the Laban Modular Training Program, the NS Department of Education, and as an Antigym practitioner and trainer.  She has been choreographer/movement consultant on numerous ATC productions.  She has sat on the Board of Bus Stop Theatre and Kinetic Studio, and been a jury member for Arts Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Talent Trust.

Research interests: Somatics, Experiential Anatomy, Movement Design

Teaching: Studio classes with a focus on body awareness, physical expression, functional alignment, creativity and more. This is a practical class where you will be asked both to personally engage with the material and to collaborate with the other students.
