Neil Silcox is an arts educator, theatre maker, and Registered Counselling Therapist based in Halifax Ontario. For over 25 years Neil has been a part of making theatre with companies across Canada — ranging from the biggest theatres in the country to the smallest and newest independent theatre companies. As an educator Neil has been at the forefront of reimagining theatre education to unlock creativity and deep personal expression, while emphasizing safety, consent, and strong mental health. His research sits at the intersection of theatre artist training and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Neil has helmed multiple theatre education conferences, helped faculty to reimagine how they create their classrooms, and has been a keynote speaker on creativity and ungrading at events across North America. Alongside his teaching and research, Neil is also in private practice as a Counselling Therapist – where he specializes in ADHD, queer and trans experiences, healthy masculinity, and working with couples and intimate relationships of all kinds.
