Research interests: A professional director, playwright, actor, dramaturg and essayist, Michael is the founder/director of the Centre for Alternative Theatre Training (CATT). His performance training and creation methodology, BoxWhatBox, has featured at eight international theatre festivals and more than twenty countries on five continents. He has directed at national and independent theatres across Europe in eight languages.
Teaching: Michael is a professional polymath, with teaching expertise in performance, directing, dramaturgy, playwriting, dramatic theory, dramatic literature and theatre history. A five-time winner of teaching awards at York University and Acadia, Michael teaches all over the world through his innovative performance methodology, BoxWhatBox.
Selected Publications and Honours: Michael’s collection of plays, Playing Outside the Lines, will be published in 2022. His two volume work on the techniques of BoxWhatBox will be published in 2023. He has published articles in major theatre journals and presented at international conferences in Canada, the United States and Europe. Two of his plays have been published in Albanian and Serbian.
