Biography: Marjolayne Auger is an interdisciplinary artist, whose work unfolds at the intersection of contemporary dance, physical theater, clown and site-specific performance.
She is specialized in Eastern theatre practices. She trained in judo, Kalari, butoh and Suzuki method of Acting.
Her physical theatre background includes Viewpoints, Meyerhold biomechanics and clown.
Professional work:
She choreographed and toured with Argentine tango orchestras. She keeps teaching seminars and creating choreographies.
She worked at Radio-Centre-Ville as a radio anchor.
As a choreographer, director and performer, her work was presented in Quebec, Europe, the United States, Armenia, Turkey and Mexico.
In Canada, she has collaborated with Sinha Danse, Marysole Gagnière, The Other Theatre, Théâtre de l’Utopie, and the company Des Pieds et des Mains.
Committed to contemporary creation, she is developing a work addressing the subject of women with high potential and the creative process. This performance will be a solo integrating new medias to live arts.
Training:
She trained in Canada (UQAM, Conservatoire Lassalle), Switzerland (Accademia Teatro Dimitri), and New York (Limón Institute, Martha Graham School, SITI Company).
She is currently doing a certification to become an intimacy coordinator with IDCprofessionals.
Teaching:
An experienced teacher, she teaches contemporary dance, theater, yoga, and Argentine tango. Her teaching approach emphasizes presence, body awareness, creativity, and the expression of each person's unique personality.
Research interests: Sacred feminine, somatics, presence and awareness, martial arts, Argentine tango, movement theatre, new medias.
Fall semester
Movement 1
This is a practical class. You will be introduced to contemporary dance and eastern theatre movement practices. Then, from these practices you will be invited to create your own work and to perform it.
Voice and Speech 1
This is a practical class that will always start with voice training routines. You will
You will be led to improvise and organize your speech according to a determined length time.
You will develop and improve your skills on how to adjust the projection of your voice according to the space where you have to work or perform in.
You will learn tools to expand your vocal interpretation in different set ups: cold readings, solo, duet and chorus work.
Winter semester
Women in theatre
You will be given an international overview of women working in theatre. This is a theoretical class with practical assignments.
